The Knight has the most distinctive silhouette of any chess piece, and in teak root it becomes one of the more unusual pieces of furniture available. The horse-head form is carved from root timber, the natural grain following the curves of the shape in ways that add to rather than detract from the result.
Like the other pieces in the Chess range, it sits in the space between functional stool and decorative object — genuinely usable as a seat or footrest, genuinely interesting as a sculptural piece for a corner or beside a fireplace.
