Bishop Stool
£138.00
A teak root stool carved into the form of a chess Bishop — functional seating that doubles as a decorative object for any room with a sense of humour and an appreciation for solid timber.
Teak root stools are already interesting — the root system provides natural forms and patterning that straight-grained timber can’t replicate. Carving the Chess range from this material and shaping each piece as a chess piece gives them a layer of wit that purely functional stools lack.
The Bishop’s form — tapered, with the characteristic notched mitre head — is immediately recognisable while reading as a considered piece of interior furniture. The natural grain of the teak root runs through the carving in ways that vary from stool to stool.
Use it as a side seat, a footstool, or a sculptural object alongside the other chess pieces in the range — they’re designed to be collected and mixed.
