Boatwood is reclaimed timber from old working boats — wood exposed to salt water, sunlight, and weather over decades, layered with paint, varnish, and the specific weathering of marine use. When used as furniture, the layers of colour from previous paint jobs become visible in cross-section and surface, giving each piece a multicolour depth that no other material has.
At large round coffee table scale, the boatwood surface has room to display its full range of colours and grain patterns. The powder-coated steel frame provides structure without competing with the extraordinary material above it.
